How to Get a Marriage License
Both applicants must appear in person at the Tyler County Clerk's office in Woodville. Each person must have a valid photo ID and their Social Security number. Under Texas Family Code Chapter 2, the license is valid anywhere in Texas. You are not required to hold the ceremony in Tyler County.
The standard fee is $81. If you complete the Twogether in Texas premarital education course, the fee is reduced. The Twogether certificate must be presented at the time of application and also waives the 72-hour waiting period required under Section 2.204. Without the certificate, you cannot hold the ceremony until 72 hours after the license is issued. The license is valid for 90 days from the issue date. It does not extend or renew if unused.
The 211 Texas helpline can also point you to local resources if you have questions about marriage-related services or social support in the area.
