Getting a Marriage License in Mansfield
Both applicants must appear in person together at any Tarrant County Clerk location. Bring valid government-issued photo ID and your Social Security numbers. Under Texas Family Code Chapter 2, the clerk verifies identity, takes payment, and issues the license the same day.
A 72-hour waiting period applies after the license is issued under § 2.204. The license is valid for 90 days from issuance under § 2.201. The Twogether in Texas premarital education program waives the 72-hour wait and reduces the license fee by $60. It is free and available in the Mansfield area. Bring the certificate when you apply. The certificate must have been completed within the past year.
If you were divorced within the past 30 days, bring a court order waiving the 30-day waiting period. Both parties must be at least 18. After the ceremony, the officiant returns the signed license to the Tarrant County Clerk within 30 days for recording. Appointments at any Tarrant County location can be booked online through the county's appointment scheduling system.
