Informal Marriage in Crosby County

Texas allows couples to formally register an informal marriage under Texas Family Code Section 2.401. In Crosby County, you can do this by signing a Declaration of Informal Marriage at the County Clerk's office in Crosbyton. The declaration is a public record with the same legal standing as a formal marriage license.

Couples who did not file a declaration can still establish an informal marriage in court, but they must show three things: agreement to be married, cohabitation in Texas as spouses, and representing to others that they were married.
